The packaging for the December Birchbox is so delightful, it really filled me with some holiday cheer! The contents this month didn’t hurt either! Birchbox has its ups & downs – sometimes you get a great box, sometimes you don’t (I’ve been the recipient of more than my fair share of punishment boxes) – but with the rewards system and frequent coupons it’s basically crazy not to subscribe if you at least occasionally purchase beauty products!
The Description: Birchbox is a discovery box that will send you 5 samples or full-size products. Earn rewards points by subscribing and reviewing your products that you can spend on full-size items on their site.
The Price: $10/month
The Coupon: Save 20% on a $35+ order. Use code MOBILE20.
December 2013 Birchbox Holiday Box Review
This month I received 4 products and a lifestyle extra in my Birchbox! I was excited by that!
Even the inside is pretty. Birchbox would like to remind you that you can buy more pretty things including the new Cynthia Rowley collection from them. I saved the pillow pack for wrapping a tiny gift!
I was so excited to get the Manna Kadar in my box!
Manna Kadar Cosmetics sheer glo shimmer lotion ($7.85) I was expecting a foil packet of this so I was happy to get a nice tube that will get me sparkly for the holidays. I LOVE that there is a Birchbox exclusive color (“Birchbox Love”)!! I love the glow I get with this and that I can mix it in with lotion for an all-over glow.
The Honest Company Winter Wellness Exclusive Kit ($2.75) So I honestly thought I was getting samples of the whole kit, but just the healing balm. I’m okay with that though because I need extras of these for travel. If you aren’t an Honest Company member (I am and use everything) check out all my Honest co coupons, enter the giveaway, and join up here.
Nelson j Beverly Hills Argan Oil 7 Non-Foaming Shampoo ($2.75) I’m not usually psyched about shampoo/conditioner in boxes, but 1) I was happy not to get a conditioner to go along with this (i don’t use it) 2) this is a moisturizing shampoo and 3) it’s paraben and sulfate free. I will save this until I get home, because testing it at my in-laws house is no test at all. They have funny water.
betty&ko – The Betty Polish ($?? 5??) I can’t value this. There’s no size listed and in fact, no labeling on the jar whatsoever. Frankly that was weird. It was also funny how it formed a little ball in the container. The full size is $65 and I would be unlikely to purchase a 3.4 oz container of sugar scrub for that much dough. I’m saving this for pre-anniversary prep (did I mention in addition to Christmas and both my kids’ birthdays 10 days before Christmas, our anniversary is also Dec 31? Because we are obviously insane people)! Even though I wouldn’t buy this I love using my luxury samples!
Greenleaf Starlight Candle Cube ($2) I love the idea of a refillable candle, and of course you can buy the full size on Birchbox. I also really like the idea of a moonlit night as a holiday scent.
Although my Birchbox was somewhat of a low value at just over $20 this month, it was one of my favorites in a very long time! I will be using absolutely everything in this box and I think everything was perfectly themed for the holidays.

Comments
Got the Betty&Ko Polish and completely agree with you – unprofessional, gunky, pasty, inconsistent, and gross smelling. Unforunately, Birchbox got it wrong with that one!
Do you know if they sell the Manna shimmer lotion over the counter?
are they still seriously still sending that out? BOO!
Oooo a candle in BB?! that’s wonderful! PS : lovin your blog’s new look!
I am not sure – have I not received a candle before? My husband has gotten at least 2!
