I thought the January Loot Crate was super cute – It was a slightly differently shaped box and it had a Launch Base on the bottom. The theme was “Launch” to celebrate the launching of an actual Loot Crate into space. Of course I was excited because my fave geeky franchises are space-based.

January 2014 Loot Crate Review – Launch
Lots of fun stuff, a little light on Star Trek for my tastes!
Bobak Ferdowsi works as a systems engineer at JPL and of course he was the “Mohawk Man” with the Curiosity Rover! This was one of my favorite parts of this box. Can I wax about what I’d really like in a nerd/geek box? I’d really like stuff that nerds/geeks would love even if the item isn’t nerdy or geeky itself. Does that make sense? I want a luxury nerd/geek box.
POP Vinyl DOMO Superman ($10) My kids die over these figures every time we get one. This has been played with to death. We’ll be working on re-engineering the kids’ room soon and I want to make sure they have a fun nice space to display them. I’m on the hunt for ideas!
- NASA Patch – Saving to apply on something! I thought this was awesome! I have a friend that works at NASA and I’m always jealous of her stuff!
- Loot Crate Pin – pinned it to my felt bag from WhimseyBox that holds all my pins
- Star Trek Communicator Badge Sticker & Melting Rubik’s Cube Wall Graphic – … I have no idea. I usually put these kinds of things on the wall for a bit of a temporary change of scenery.
Star Wars Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide ($8) I guess true geeks would already own a Klingon dictionary.
Star Wars Pocket Model Ground Assault Game Pack ($5) I tucked these away for now. I thought they would be fun for an airplane trip!
Minecraft Mini Calendar ($7.50) I still don’t know anything about Minecraft! I think my kids are too young!
I thought January Loot Crate was pretty great, but I wished I’d picked up Nerd Block too this month – it featured My Little Pony & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! (and obvs I wanted more Star Trek!)
