DoodleBug Busy Bags is a new subscription from Kidable Adventures, who also produces the Little Thinker Box (read our review). Even though we can be slow at getting out the reviews of kids boxes, let me tell you, this is our new favorite kid’s subscription. I’m not going to hide the ball – let me tell you exactly why you should subscribe to this box

  • It’s easy – everything is super simple to craft. Each craft has the instructions and the bag of supplies needed to assemble them is already included.
  • It keeps the kids busy and you don’t have to worry about coming up with projects. A few months ago I had to hire some sitters to watch the kids and they made an ungodly mess of my house because I didn’t have any sort of project set up. This is the PERFECT babysitter or grandparent activity. Simple, easy, but engaging.
  • I have bins full of random craft supplies that I don’t know what to do with. Honestly, I don’t have the time to come up with the actual craft.
  • And finally, not all kids are the same. My son PREFERS this sort of assembly craft to any other craft. He LOVES doing it. It makes him so happy.

It is very similar to the now-defunct Carefree Crafts, except it has more crafts in it and is lower priced. Yup. Yes all the crafts are sourced from places like Oriental Trading Company but unless you need $100 of each craft, don’t order direct. That’s why this box exists.

My son LOVES sticker sets. We put this together maybe 3 weeks ago, and he still carries around. He is so proud!

The sand art was something we actually did in a Carefree Crafts bag, but it was welcome the second time!IMG_4490

My son picked this up and said, I love this picture so much because I made it with my dad. My husband actually does all sorts of complicated activities with the kids, but not all dads are quite there. Any dad can master this box.IMG_4486

The instructions had prompts for more scientific inquiries. My daughter was seeing how the thermometer worked. So if you want to step it into science, those ideas are there, but you don’t have to.IMG_4481

This has kept my daughter quite busy even though all her toys are boxed up.IMG_4491

He had so much fun!

This box included – the coloring book, thermometer magnet, beachball magnet, popsicle magnet, sand art, sandcastle magnet, sticker set, and sundial activity.

We do have the August Bag and we haven’t been able to complete it yet due to moving, so we’re saving it for next week. I’ll try to get up photos of that tonight in a separate mini-review, to help you decide. Bags are shipped the first week but you have until the 18th of the month to order. We are fans!
