Warby Parker is an eyewear company with a unique home try-on program. Select the frames you want to try on, order a home try-on box, and have 5 days to decide which frames (if any) you’d like to purchase. Single-vision frames + lenses are usually $95, progressive lenses are $295.
I have tried and ordered glasses online before with varying amounts of luck. My husband needed new frames so we thought we’d give Warby Parker a whirl. Since I’m the one who picked out the frames for him, it doesn’t seem fair to make him review them.
I picked out 2 frames and then noticed I had recommended frames – so I added the other 3 to the Home Try-On and ordered it. It came in just a few days.
The glasses come in a box in individual plastic bags, and the names of the frames are right on them. If you decide to order the glasses, they are all polycarbonate lenses, have 100% UV protection and anti-scratch and anti-reflective coating are both included free. To order your glasses online (from anywhere) you will need to have your PD (pupillary distance) measured.
My best tip for trying on glasses is to take photos of yourself, or have someone take photos of you. When I do it, I put all the pictures on a photostream and invite my friends to give comments. My husband isn’t sure yet that any of these frames are for him, so we may do another try-on box – Warby Parker just released a new collection: Half-Decade collection.
I have purchased frames+lenses from Warby Parker before (2 years ago), but they didn’t work out (something with where they centered the vision of the lens isn’t right for the way I wear my glasses). They happily refunded my money. I have purchased successfully & unsuccessfully from EyeBuyDirect. I’ve purchased lenses from Zenni (the frames are really cheap) but they were so heavy that I never wore them – not once. My most recent pairs are from LensCrafters (needed new pair asap) and Costco (LOVE to buy there). I also just found out about Classic Specs (super similar, about $6 less) so we may check that out as well!

What a fun idea! Do you happen to know if they offer traditional glasses in non prescription? ( My daughter likes to wear them as an accessory, and at times they will be part of cosplay outfits she does for conventions)
