I was super excited to get October’s Stitch Fix as I was wildly in love with it last time!

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service and you pay a $20 styling fee that will be credited on your order (so it’s silly not to get at least one thing). You get a 25% discount if you keep everything! You fill out a super detailed profile and you should really be super specific to ensure that you’re getting clothes you love! You have 3 days to try on the clothes and then elect to keep or return. You can schedule fixes or subscribe!  I don’t think I mentioned last time but I’m pretty sure I asked not to get pants. I’m very short and round shaped and very few pants really work for me. I rarely purchase them and when I do I buy a ton of them (because if I’m buying them, they work).

Also, let’s recall that I was super specific about what I like to wear, which is what I’ll call “interesting black.” Eventually I’ll need to ask my stylist to get a little pushy with my wardrobe but right now I’m super thrilled because I got just what I wanted. I love the classic look of black with interesting accessories and I can restyle my fairly limited wardrobe (I recently lost a ton of weight and ahem, am back on the wagon post-Disney trip! My Stitch Fix inspired me today to stay on the straight and narrow. So I can be more straight and narrow!). Also let’s recall that my daughter broke my full-length mirror so all I have are shots of the clothes hanging up. The photos of me standing on a ladder to see into my bathroom mirror aren’t the best!

The Subscription: Stitch Fix

The Description: Create your style profile and get 5 stylist selected pieces – clothing & accessories – a month. Monthly “fixes” available. Now offering maternity & petites!

The Price: what you buy (~$75/ea) + $20 styling fee credited to order

Stitch Fix

comes in a plain outerbox though I do like the styling. The clothes inside are wrapped in tissue.

Stylist Note Hello from Stitch Fix! This fix is all about welcoming fall into your wardrobe with versatile pieces. What other colors would you be willing to try out? [Note from Brandy – I just now read this while I’m typing it. I KNEW IT WAS COMING! OMG I AM SO SCARED SOMEBODY HOLD MY HAND PLEASE] I don’t want to just send you all black items every time, [REALLY? BECAUSE I’M TOTES COOL WITH THAT!] unless that is what you want 🙂 [SOMEONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO TELL ME WHAT TO WRITE BACK!] I hope you have fun trying everything on. We are looking forward to your wonderful feedback.

Nails as Black as my Clothes There’s nothing wrong with wearing all black. And if you want a good laugh go read the comments about my black nails at Ryan’s blog.

Bay to Baubles Jeweled Pencil Fenced Necklace ($36) I liked this necklace, but I didn’t love it, because I felt that it shouldn’t overlap, but it did.

Renee C Broadway Swing Skirt ($58) I love this skirt! It’s a great ponté knit and in an a-line cut. the fabric is cut on the bias so it hangs beautifully (not like you can tell from my photo). I’m going to need to fish out all my tights! I love tights! Maybe I’ll sign up for HauteLegs now that it’s fall!

This is the worst photograph in the world.

41Hawthorn Florence Colorblocked Dress ($68) I was so excited when I saw this dress!

I lurve it! Like I said, I like “interesting black!” This had the nice puffy top to keep me balanced looking and the colorblocking at the bottom kept it interesting. Plus, I could add a cardigan (I got one last month) and fun jewelry.

Renee C Jemdy Striped Dolman Sleeve Jersey Top ($48) Stitch Fix needs to stop making me spend my money. I love this. I love the fabric, I love the dolman style, I love that it’s fitted at the bottom and not banded, and I love the idea of wearing it with a bright color. I would do that if I owned anything like it.

Dolmans don’t photograph that well on hangers! But it’s a great top!

Oxmo Destin Studded Chevron Stripe Shirt ($68) OMG this is awesome! The fabric is super soft and the knit itself is an interesting weave knit. The tag says to wash inside out in a washbag. Because everything will probably come off it. I will be handwashing this to be sure it doesn’t.

Yes I’m keeping it. Shush.

Stitch Fix is a service that I absolutely needed and I admit, I’m shocked that clothing boxes are some of my favorites! I love that I have loved everything but even if I didn’t, I can send these items back without guilt!
The total for the merchandise in my Stitch Fix box is $278. I should note that the 25% discount comes after the prepaid styling fee but before credits on your account (I had $5), even though the credits appear above the discount line on your receipt. If I kept everything my total is $193.50 (excluding my credits, and remember I already paid $20 towards this box). If I removed the necklace I’d pay $222. So I’ll be taking the entire box. Once I do start to allow my Stitch Fix stylist to branch out my styling choices I don’t believe that I’ll be getting the whole box like I did these last two times, but for me it doesn’t make sense not to. I’m asking them to stop sending jewelry (I get enough) and to start funkifying my wardrobe a bit. Problem is – I don’t really have a style besides “interesting black.” I’m afraid that if I like a colorful piece and keep it I won’t ever wear it. I mean, I have a hard enough time matching my blacks. I can’t be the only person in the world like this.

Awesome picks for you. Love the dress! have signed up but have yet to order a box. I’m a bit fearful of the prices, although some of your items were reasonable. I may have to bite the bullet and order one. I just received an email that sweaters are here!

Yay, you opened it finally! I love the tops, may have to request them in my next fix! These things are too addicting. The more feedback you give, the better the get, and the more my bank account hates me!

I signed up to get my first stitch fix in November, hopefully it will go well. If I don’t like anything in the box and send it all back, do you have to pay another $20 styling fee for them to try again?

Rachel, the styling fee is per box. It’s in your best interest to like one thing from the box!

I love the striped shirt – totally reminds me of J Crew… and the solid black skirt! How am I the only person who didn’t know about this until this week though?!

First visit to your blog (I’m stalking other Stitch Fix reviews because I just got and blogged on my 2nd Fix) and I LOVE your box. There is totally nothing wrong with interesting black — in fact one of the notes on my account is that I LOVE an interesting black top… haha If you’re dying to add in another color — try asking for a dark denim, grey or maybe even a dark purple? =)

Hahaha! You’re on a roll lately! This review had me cracking up!!

I really like everything you got and wish you had a mirror to take modeling pics! You absolutely need to branch into color, crazy lady. Try cobalt blue – it’s huge this fall, looks fab with black and isn’t TOO far away from your beloved purple!

And btw I LOVE the black nails!!!!!!!!

I know. But I would have to buy a car in order to get a mirror. If I do buy a car I promise I will purchase another mirror. Every time I buy something colorful I never wear it and it’s a waste of money. Which is why I concentrate on “interesting black.” It’s alright to wear all black if it’s INTERESTING! That’s what I tell myself. I will link my review for the Stitchfix people and maybe they will send me blue.

I really, really like this one, Brandy! I’m not a big jewelry fan, especially necklaces, but I love the clothing items. That dolman top is delightful!

You need to sign up and get your fix! The waiting list is forever but just keep checking until you find one. And try Rocksbox. I wear a lot more jewelry now. That’s my referral link. As if you didn’t know.
